Quick Guide To Self-Isolation Skincare

Quick Guide To Self-Isolation Skincare

To keep your skin looking its best, here’s your Quick Guide to Self-Isolation Skincare.

COVID self-isolation is tough.  I mean, you can’t get your colour done (hello grey, not seen you for a long time), you can self-wax, (but let’s face it, who wants to) and without filler your face is rapidly heading south!

BUT, the one thing you can do is take care of your skin.

You may not be wearing make-up (although just popping to the shop still needs lipstick, at least!!) but staying at home all day comes with its own set of problems.

Whether a crop of self-isolation-induced spots has appeared or your face is dried and crepey-looking, here’s a helpful tips …

You Gotta Cleanse!

When the most movement you’re getting is to make a cup of tea (or better yet, a G&T) it’s easy to think a quick splash of water is enough to wash your face.  But all that pimple-causing sebum – not to mention any makeup or heavy moisturiser you’ve slapped on – still needs removing.  Forget wipes – they really don’t do the job – and give yourself a proper cleanse with a foaming wash or liquid cleanser and a warm, damp flannel.

For Self-Isolation Skincare use the Cliniccare Concentrated Cleansing Foam for a gentle cleanse with water. Treat yourself to two-minute self-massage as you wash, focusing on the jawline and temples, where you’re likely to be holding tension.  Relax into it to help de-stress.

Deal with Breakouts

If you’re faced with an array of fresh spots each morning, you’re not alone.

Stress is a huge factor.  And, with a worldwide pandemic going on, it’s certainly stressful at the moment for most of us.   On top of that your diet is probably more liquid than anything nutritious, you may not be sleeping as well, and getting less exercise.  All has a huge impact on your skin.

Get hold of some products that contain salicylic acid – fab for deep cleansing and unblocking clogged pores.

Now’s also a good time to clean your pillows, pillowcases, phone screen and makeup brushes, too. All can harbour spot-causing bacteria.

It’s easy to clean your brushes.  Just swirl in baby shampoo or washing up liquid, rinse in warm water, then repeat until it runs clear. Mop off excess water with a clean towel and leave to dry overnight.

Nourish the Dryness

Central heating can suck the moisture from your complexion, leaving it looking dry and crepey.   Combat it by applying a serum containing hyaluronic acid before your moisturiser or sunscreen. Cliniccare offer a 3-step moisturising protocol for difference skin conditions … available at my Skincare Shop

Another answer is to apply a Face Mask containing hyaluronic acid once a week.  Hyaluronic acid attracts water so is superb at keeping your face looking plump and youthful. Try the Cliniccare EGF PURE Sheet Mask to give your skin a real treat.

And don’t forget … drink plenty of water!

Keep up with Sunscreen (believe it not!)

The sun is starting to show itself more regularly at the moment.

And because you’re cooped up inside you may be thinking you’re protected from the sun. BUT UVA rays, (which cause wrinkles, sagging and pigmentation) can penetrate the windows.   So a broad-spectrum facial sunscreen (SPF30 and above) such as Cliniccare Sun Shield Cream (SPF30+) should still be a part of your daily routine.

Apply it after the rest of your skincare, but before makeup.  And BTW the Sun Protection Factor (SPF) in your foundation just won’t do the job. Typically, the SPF in foundation only protects against UVB rays, not the UVA ones and you’d have to apply a crazy amount of product to get a good enough sun protection.

I carry an affordable range of natural, vegan, cruelty-free products composed of herbs and vitamins, which help with all of the above.  Visit our Skincare Online Shop to see the range of products..
