What Are Wrinkles?

Wrinkles are the folds, lines and creases, which appear on the surface of our skin as we age.

They may occur anywhere, but typically first begin to appear:

What Causes Wrinkles?

Wrinkles are an inevitable sign of ageing – we all get them to some degree or another.

Whenever you move your face as in Squinting, Frowning, Laughing or Concentrating, your muscles contract. After years of frequent contraction, combined with environmental and lifestyle factors – such as exposure to sunlight, smoking, alcohol, diet or pollution – lines and wrinkles begin to form.

In addition, the aging process means our collagen and elastin begin to deplete, causing the skin to lose its natural firmness and elasticity.

Hence, we get wrinkles!

Treatments For Wrinkles

Plasma Pen Skin Tightening

The Plasma Pen  is perfect to reduce the appearance of all kinds of wrinkles, especially around the eyes, forehead and neck.

The procedure is effective for several skin concerns, and is the only treatment outside of cosmetic surgery that gives a real Eyelift.

This non-invasive skin lifting and tightening technique greatly improves the skin without injections or surgery. Plus, it’s long-lasting with results typically lasting 3 years.

Dermal Fillers

For deeper, more established wrinkles, dermal fillers may be the best solution.

The treatment involves injecting a safe, hyaluronic acid solution under the skin with a fine needle to plump and fill lines and grooves. It has an almost instant effect (from 48 hours following treatment) and lasts up to 12 months.

Wrinkle Smoothing Treatments

When you contract your muscles, the wrinkles around your eyes are seen. Wrinkle Smoothing Treatments, typically injections of medically approved products, interrupt the signal that makes your muscles contract. This causes the muscles to stay relaxed and so unable to crease the skin.

Skin Boosting Therapy

For lines and wrinkles on the cheeks, neck and hands due to loss of elasticity and firmness, Skin Boosting Injectables such as Profhilo or Hydryal are an excellent solution as they combat tired, dehydrated and ageing skin.

The products contain hyaluronic acid, which slowly releases to stimulate the production of all four types of collagen and elastin to help rejuvenate and increase the firmness of the skin, as well as enhancing skin tone and complexion.

Microneedling

Fines lines and wrinkles can often be successfully reduced with Microneedling and bespoke products designed to improve the hydration and plumpness of your skin.

A course of treatments gives the best results.  Or the treatment can be used as part of a maintenance programme to inhibit the formation of new lines and wrinkles as we continue to age.

Chemical Peels

Chemical Peels  work by harnessing the power of naturally occurring acids and active ingredients to deeply exfoliate the skin.

The treatment involves applying a special formula to the skin, which gradually causes the upper layers of aged or damaged skin to peel away. They are mostly painless, although deeper peels can cause a slight burning sensation.

A skin peel leave the skin looking smoother, with wrinkles appearing reduced or eliminated completely. The treatment stimulates new cell growth and encourages collagen production, helping to reveal clearer, fresher and firmer skin.

What Treatment Is Best To Get Rid Wrinkles?

Fortunately, there are many ways to treat wrinkles.

The most appropriate method depends on the nature of the lines and wrinkles you have -as well as how well-established or deep the wrinkles.

Lines caused by muscle movement – such as when you frown, squint or smile – are known as dynamic lines.  Lines which are present at all times, even when you’re not moving your facial muscles, are called static lines.

Dynamic lines are usually most effectively treated using Wrinkle Smoothing Treatments to relax the muscles in the face.

Static lines are usually most effectively treated using the Plasma Pen Skin TighteningChemical Peels, Dermal Fillers or  Microneedling.

For crepey skin with fine lines and wrinkles, Skin Boosting Therapy works extremely well.

A combination of treatments may well be the best solution for you.
