How Does Aqualyx Work?

Aqualyx is a hugely popular treatment to target stubborn pockets of fat , so much so that many swear by it. Yet many ask “How Does Aqualyx Work?”

However, even if you’ve heard of it, you may still not actually know what Aqualyx is … or how it works.

Read more to learn how Aqualyx works and why it is such an effective treatment for stubborn fat.

HOW AQUALYX WORKS – in a nutshell

So How does Aqualyx work?

Simply, Aqualyx is a fat-dissolving treatment.

It is a liquid compound that is injected into the area to be treated.  As the product is injected it attaches itself to the fat cells and dissolves them. The fat is then naturally expelled from the body over the coming weeks.

Aqualyx is a synthetic version of an acid that occurs naturally in the body, whose role is to dissolve fat.

Hence, the treatment uses the body’s own method of removing fat, only it targets specific areas for cosmetic reasons.  For example to reduce a double chin or a build-up of visible fat on the abdominal area,

The Aqualyx compound contains a synthetic version of deoxycholic acid to target cells in the area into which it has been injected.   Deoxycholic acid is a substance that occurs naturally in the stomach and breaks down fat from your diet.

As it uses your body’s own fat-processing mechanism, the process is in tune with the body,  only it stimulates this mechanism in the area you are keen to target.

Many of us are prone to developing hard-to-shift pockets of fat, which remain no matter how good our diet or how much we exercise.

Yet Aqualyx will stimulate fat reduction in these, killing off fat in a highly targeted way.

Aqualyx is a suitable treatment for relatively small areas of stubborn fat.  Here is a non-exhaustive list of the areas suitable for Aqualyx treatment:

  • chin
  • abdomen
  • sides
  • buttocks
  • arms
  • thighs
  • back

It is not a treatment for general weight loss or obesity.

People who choose this treatment are healthy but have stubborn pockets of fat they want gone.

Aqualyx is typically used on those between the ages of 18 and 65.

It’s not suitable for someone who is pregnant or breastfeeding and may not be suitable due to health circumstances, which are established at the initial consultation.

In general, though, if you are in good health and want to reduce area of stubborn of fat pockets. then Aqualyx is likely to be an excellent option.

Other fat dissolving treatments exist, but in the last decade Aqualyx has emerged as the gold standard.

There are also other ways to target areas of fat, these would include fat freezing and treatments such as Body HIFU, both available at Aesthetics Julie Edwards.

We recommend booking a consultation with us to discuss your goals and a suitable treatment plan.

Treatment with Aqualyx begins with an initial detailed consultation, where you discuss your aims for treatment and for us to ascertain whether Aqualyx is the best option for you.

Assuming Aqualyx is chosen, the treatment involves careful injections of the product into the area for treatment.  In some cases, the injections also contain some local anaesthetic so as to make the process painless.

The treatment typically only takes around 30 to 45 minutes, after which you may continue with the rest of your  day. Underneath the skin, the Aqualyx product begins to attach to cells and destroy the fat.

There is no downtime.  Results are seen over  the coming weeks.

It is usual to need a number of treatments, to receive the desired effect.

If you’re concerned about the appearance of fat in certain areas, then Aqualyx is likely to be a suitable treatment.
